Discussion about AI, innovation and the economy in the district

On December 11, 2023, the CSU district parliamentary group visited MEKRA Lang to discuss the company, its innovations and AI.

Member of the state parliament Werner Stieglitz, his predecessor Hans Herold, CSU district chairman Christian von Dobschütz and the mayor of Ergersheim Dieter Springmann took part in the lively discussion in MEKRA Lang's electronics building.

Susanne Lang first gave the Christian Socialists a brief overview of the history of the family business. Dr. Werner Lang then shed light on the company's development from a pure mirror system supplier to a sought-after electronics system expert in the commercial vehicle segment.

Opportunity for a test drive

During the event, there was a popular opportunity to take the Vision Truck for a spin and experience the outstanding image quality of the "Digital Vision System", MEKRA Lang's mirror replacement system, live and during the challenging drive in the twilight.

During the lively exchange, a cooperation between MEKRA Lang and the Technology Transfer Center (TTZ) being established in Neustadt was also discussed, from which both Ansbach University of Applied Sciences and MEKRA Lang could benefit.

Dr. Werner Lang regretted the "lack of affinity for technology", as there are "so many reasons to be proud" in Germany. However, cybercrime, the protection of sensitive data, the shortage of skilled workers, the integration of refugees and the lack of infrastructure in rural areas were also topics of discussion.

Mayor Dieter Springmann thanked MEKRA Lang for its loyalty to the site. After all, it is anything but a matter of course today that such a "global company" remains rooted in rural areas. Susanne Lang emphasized that a settlement of this size would probably no longer be possible in our district today, as the excavators were already rolling six weeks after agreement was reached on the site in Ergersheim.

On behalf of all participants, Hans Herold thanked the Lang family for the trusting cooperation and the always intensive and interesting exchange over the past decades.
